Rex Billing mourned by Victorian sailors and and the Metung community

Flags in the small East Gippsland village of Metung were lowered to half mast last Friday (17th December) when the news emerged that earlier in the day Rex James Billing had died peacefully in the Bairnsdale Hospital, after six year battle with renal cancer. Mr Billing 56, who in early 2000 moved from Port Melbourne to Metung was a blue water veteran of eight Sydney to Hobarts and a celebrated dual winner of the tough Melbourne to Hobart ?Westcoaster?, that became his favourite race.
