Pittwater - Port Stephens short handed race Oct 3

Rolly Tasker Sails
The SSAA is proud to announce the annual Pittwater to Port Stephens race is on again - this year on the October long weekend (Friday 3rd October) rather than the usual June long weekend. We are especially proud to have Rolly Tasker Sails Australia again supporting us.

Given that the French seem to be world leaders in shorthanded and solo racing, we decided this year to have another break from tradition, and rather than holding the annual Skippers versus Crew Cricket match, we will instead have a petanque tournament.

Which may prompt you to ask - what is petanque? Well, petanque is a form of boules where the goal is, while standing with the feet together in a small circle, to throw metal balls as close as possible to a small wooden ball called a cochonnet (jack). Simple n'est-ce pas?

So this year yachts will race, starting at 2000hrs on Friday 3rd October, from Pittwater to Port Stephens, where berths have been reserved at D'Albora Marina in Nelson Bay. After relaxing (?) Saturday night, a coach will then pick us up on Sunday morning from the Marina, and take us to Wandin Valley Winery on Lovedale Road in the Hunter Valley, where we will enjoy a Gourmet BBQ lunch, sample a few of the winemakers efforts, and afterwards enjoy the above mentioned petanque tournament.

We would like to see as many yachts as possible on that start line, but even if you don't race, come and join us for lunch, and a game of petanque.

The Rolly Tasker Sails - Australia Pittwater to Port Stephens Short Handed Yacht Race is a Cat 3 plus liferaft race.

Entries close Wednesday 1st October. The NOR, Sailing Instructions and Entry Form are on www.ssaa.com.au.
