The rain cleared and the breeze set in for the first day of the OAMPS Insurance Brokers Queensland Youth Week incorporating the Australian Midwinter Youth Championship. The competitors were keen to hit the water and there were a few nerves when the 25 knot nor'wester kicked in 45 minutes prior to the first warning signal of the day. The conditions cleaned out the fleet with many heading back to shore a bit broken and battered, but those who managed to work through the pressure had some fantastic racing on Waterloo Bay east ...
