Sunshine on Lake Macquarie this morning for the ninth and last race in the Murphy & Nye 2010 Australian Etchells Championship.

John Bertrand, Tom Slingsby and Andrew 'Dog' Palfrey do not need to sail today; they won the 2010 Australian Title yesterday.

In Race 8 they only had to finish 15th or better, but clinched the series with an emphatic first.

John Bertrand commented 'You never stop learning and this is another opportunity.'

This morning will see the resolution of the podium placings with Damien King (Barry) set to do battle with Graeme (GT) Taylor (Magpie).

Conditions will be again light, with winds from the east in the five-ten range but gradually building.

Spectator fleet numbers have been big all week, but today they will be even larger. Coal Point has been a popular viewing point for land based spectators.

As the fleet is making its way out to the start line, clouds are appearing and at the end of the Lake it is becoming overcast.

Stay tuned for Race 9.
