First day of the Flying Fifteen Worlds

An exciting day to the start of the Worlds, good wind, no rain and sun to please the European visitors.

Worlds: Day One Overview

The first race of the 17th Flying Fifteen International World Championship got off to a clean start in 8-10 knots of breeze at 175 degrees. The wind reached 20 knots later in the afternoon, with seas building in the solid sea breeze.

The fleet split fairly evenly on the two sides of the course. First to the top mark was Australian National Champion No Bull. He was followed closely by Britain's Ff, Art Gekko and N/a, Australia's Tba, and New Zealand's Ffortune.

No Bull sustained his lead around the second top mark - but only by a whisker over Australian rival TBA. Art Gekko, Ff and Ffortune came round third, fourth and fifth respectively, with I'd Swap This For A Bundy knocking N/a down a place from the last rounding.

By the third windward mark, No Bull had lost his lead to countryman Tba. Tba didn't give it back, winning the first race of the World Championship by 13 seconds.
