Celebrate Australia Day at the National Maritime Museum

The National Maritime Museum, at Darling Harbour, will be offering several special attractions on Australia Day, Monday, 26 January.

*Free live music and entertainment around the museum all day. look out for Colin Douglas' roaming renditions of great Australian bush ballads followed by an amazing log drumming performance by Echoes of Polynesia

*The museum's exhibitions will be open free of charge. as usual! Don't miss Vaka Moana - Voyages of the Ancestors which tells the story of the discovery and settlement of the Pacific islands - the last chapter in the story of human expansion across the globe.

*Plus there will be a screening of the award-winning 2002 film Whale Rider at 11 am and 3 pm and a screening of the children's animated feature Horrible Histories: Highly Hawaiian at 2 pm... all free.

Admission to the destroyer HMAS Vampire will be heavily discounted to $2 per adult, $1 per child/concession, or $5 per family (2 adults + 4 kids) - that's more than 85% off the usual price! Entry to the museum is free.

The Australian National Maritime Museum, at Darling Harbour, will be open 9.30 am to 6.00 pm on Australia Day. It's a short walk from the city across Pyrmont Bridge, or catch a Sydney Ferry to Pyrmont Bay, the monorail to Harbourside or the Light Rail to Pyrmont Bay.
