In the evolutionary landscape that is today's Yachting Industry, Outer Reef Yachts of Fort Lauderdale continues to be on the cutting edge with their latest response to the ever-changing environment.

Even though oil prices have abated for the time being, it is likely that pump prices will again rise.

Outer Reef Yachts has countered this by re-vamping the powertrain line-up on their existing Yacht line and by introducing two new models.

All of Outer Reef's current line-up of yachts from 65' to 85' will now be available with smaller engine packages for those looking towards greater fuel economy, longer range and a smaller carbon footprint.

They have also introduced a new, smaller sister ship at 58' to take advantage of these smaller engine packages, matching economical performance to a good turn of pace when desired.

As an added performance option on the 58', a 63' cockpit version is available with the obvious value of a 5' cockpit and the storage found below. The subsequent increase in the waterline length - without the added structure and weight above - further improves fuel economy and top speed whilst still employing the same engine arrangement.

Running at displacement speeds, the Outer Reef 63 - with her semi displacement hull - is as economical as her full displacement brethren, with the benefit of extra speed should it be considered necessary.

The Outer Reef 63 is not intended as an ocean crossing vessel, but it is very capable of running far offshore with her proven hull design and Open Ocean category 'A' rating (wave heights 18'-20' with sustained winds to over 40 knots).

Of all the full displacement 'globe trotters' in the marketplace today, the reality is that the majority of these vessels rarely wander more than a dozen or so miles offshore.

Outer Reef Yachts has seen a trend of many full displacement Yacht owners moving into their Yachts who are no longer content with being limited to 6-7 knots, as well as being restricted to deep water cruising due to draft issues.
An amazing world of exploration awaits the semi-displacement Yacht that can navigate the shallower coastal waterways as well as cruise the East Coast to The Whitsunday Islands - and far beyond - in extreme comfort and safety.

The first Outer Reef 63 for the Australian market will debut at the 21st Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, 21-24 May 2009.
