Australian Finn Championship 2010 - Little change at the top

12:38 AM Sat 9 Jan 2010 GMT
'Anthony Nossiter' Greg Pratt
Australian Finn Championship 2010 Day Three.

Australian Olympian, Anthony Nossiter had the race won from the start, blasting out of the blocks at the pin end of the line, he lead to the finish. With the tide ebbing at full force across the course and the winds so light it was critical to get the strategy right. The slightest mistake was heavily punished in the tight fleet.

The race got underway in 7 knots of gradient wind and softened as the race progressed. There where place changes all the way to the finish, most notably, the performance of Victoria's Jake Gunther and the Kiwi, Nik Burfoot who sailed passed the bunch down the last run to finish second and third.

The race committee were quick to act on the changing situation and sent the fleet back ashore after the finish. The thickening cloud cover cooled the land too much to get a sea breeze and after a two hour postponement racing was abandoned for the day with the scheduled start bought forward an hour to 10am.

With no discard until after eight races, consistency is key to the overall positions at this stage. There was little change at the top of the leader board;

1 Nik Burfoot (NZL) 11.00
2 Anthony Nossiter (AUS) 18.00
3 James Paterson (AUS) 23.00
4 Oliver Tweddell (AUS) 29.00
5 Warwick Hill (AUS) 38.00
6 Jake Gunther (AUS) 41.00
7 Timothy Castles (AUS) 42.00
8 John Condie (AUS) 53.00
9 Shaun Wells (AUS) 60.00
10 Chris Caldecoat (AUS) 61.00
