Nine Australian crews are getting prepared to take part in the Flying Dutchman world titles in Napier, New Zealand, 31 Dec 2008 to 11 Jan 2009.

The New Zealand Nationals will take place 31 Dec 2008 to 3 Jan 2009 with 8 races.

45 crews have entered from all over the world. The world titles will take place on the 6 to 11 Jan 2009 with 9 races.

The racing can be followed on this web site www.nzfda.com

With a small fleet the racing will be very competitive. Hungarians Szabolcs and Andras (HUN 70) will be hot favourites with their previous world title wins in Melbourne and Florida.

They are continuing their battle on the water with Australian crew Rydge and Scarr (AUS 37).

In Melbourne there was one point between the two and at the Europeans last year again one point separated them in the final results.

This regatta will be a tight fought battle with many other competitors vying for a top three finish.
