'12ft Skiff Interdomion Championship'

The final two heats of the 12ft Skiff Interdominion Championship were sailed yesterday in a classic No.2 rig Southeasterly breeze of about 15kts. On the team front, the Aussie team hung on to their lead to win the John Brooke Teams Trophy for the first time since 1997.

Frankenskiff, skippered by Tim Bartlett (aka Te Guru) showed outstanding speed to take the gun in both heats, with Yabba Dabba finishing second in both, and Garde finishing third in both.

This meant that Garde, skippered by Brett Hobson, had just done enough to seal the overall victory by just one point over Alex Vallings in Nuplex, with Yabba Dabba taking third place overall.

On the team front, the Aussie team hung on to their lead to win the John Brooke Teams Trophy for the first time since 1997.

This was quite an event for evaluating some of the newer hull shapes, with winds ranging from just over 10kts right up to over 30kts. Interestingly, the Woof design still dominated the results, with the only other design in the top six being the Nuplex.
