2009 Black Rock Skiff Regatta and combined State Championships

9:45 PM Sun 15 Feb 2009 GMT
Black Rock Yacht Club (home of Australia's annual Go for Gold regatta, host of the recent 2008 Finn Gold Cup, and prospective host of the 2010 Musto Skiff Worlds) today launched its inaugural Skiff Regatta, which, if deemed successful by the competitors, is intended to become an annual event in Melbourne.

The relevant dates this year are 20 to 22 March with the Friday evening being devoted to registration, a practice race, and a social get together for the various classes taking part.

Based on Melbourne's Port Phillip Bay, and blessed with an internationally renowned race management team headed by the Wilson brothers (who include several Olympic Regattas and innumerable World Championships in their personal RO experience), Black Rock Yacht Club has determined to combine a number of international and local skiff classes and offer the venue and regatta for a number of 2009 Victorian state championships. Classes taking up the offer so far include Int' 14, B14, F15, and Int' Moth, whilst the club is hopeful that they will be joined by the Musto, 29er, 49er and Javelin.

The NOR will shortly be available on the club's website www.bryc.yachting.org.au

Entries are due by 20.00pm Friday 20 March, 2009. Late fees will apply after this date.

Further information will be posted on the club's website and through this medium as it comes available. Any queries should be directed to the club manager in the first instance. Additional classes who would like to be considered for invitation are encouraged to call the club's Sailing Captain Andrew Wilson on 0409 901961
