One point separates the top three boats in the 18ft skiff Auckland Champs which got underway with the fleet leaving the ramp, hoisting the number 2 small rigs. Two races were sailed in a NW breeze, building to 25knots by the end of the day.

Race one was sailed in a puffy 10 - 15 knot NW breeze. Yamaha were over the line early, being called back. The fleet were close around the track with numerous lead changes throughout the race. After a close battle on the last upwind, Yamaha (Scott Kennedy) edged out Maersk Line (Graham Catley) near the finish to win.

The second race was started in 20 knots with all boats clear. Yamaha lead to the top mark but delayed the hoist of the spinnaker and were passed by both JF Hillebrand (Phil Airey) and Maersk Line. During the race the breeze built to over 25knots with great rides enjoyed down wind. JF Hillebrand won the race from Maersk Line and Yamaha.

The epic battle continues next Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd, with 3 races starting at 11am both days. Current standings sees Yamaha and Maersk Line both tied on 4 points with JF Hillebrand on 5 points and Stunt Academy (Chris Hirst) on 7 points.
